The Christian Reformed Church in North America has a full time (40 hrs/wk) position opening for a Placement and Training Manager with Christian Reformed World Missions, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This person will manage the process of securing and orienting personnel for CRWM's international ministry, and manage the placement of CRC members in ministry opportunities with other organizations.

Qualified candidates will have knowledge of mission placement processes; administrative, networking and public relations skills; strong interpersonal and communications abilities are essential.  A willingness to travel and participate in some evening and weekend events are required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                    Placement and Training Manager
Department:               Placement, Learning, and Care
Reports To:                Director of Special Projects
FLSA Status:              Full-time, exempt
              

PURPOSE:
To manage the process of securing and orienting personnel for CRWM’s international ministry, and to manage the placement of CRC members in ministry opportunities with other mission organizations when WM cannot offer such opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1.      Supervise the Placement, Learning, and Care (PLC) department and lead the recruitment, orientation, and missionary care programs.
2.      Challenge and assist members of CRC congregations to explore their interest in and calling to missions.
  • Help them to identify opportunities to serve with Christian Reformed World Missions and its partners or with other CRCNA agencies/offices.
  • As needed, refer candidates to other sending agencies.
3.      Represent CRWM to churches, partner organizations, and missionary candidates.
  • Represent CRWM at colleges, teacher conventions, job fairs, recruitment events, missions events, etc.  
  • Connect with prospective candidates by building relationships with CRC-connected organizations (e.g., Calvin Seminary, Youth Unlimited).
  • Interact with field and regional leaders to identify opportunities for volunteers, as well as SMP and internship opportunities.
  • Work with ServiceLink in both Canada and the USA to place volunteers.
  • Identify new ways to communicate and connect with all members of the CRCNA in order to increase the level of racial diversity among CRWM personnel.
4.      Interact with the Advancement Team to promote knowledge and awareness of CRWM ministries. Work with existing communication channels (Banner articles, college newspapers, regional reps, etc.) to highlight opportunities and to share ministry stories that inspire others to serve and support CRWM.
5.      Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.        Commitment to Christ and the mission of the church; professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation preferred.
2.        Working knowledge of the Christian Reformed Church and its agencies.
3.        Working knowledge of mission placement processes and a passion to advance the work of CRWM.
4.        Administrative abilities, as well as networking and public relations skills.
5.        Basic computer and internet skills.
6.        Ability to maintain confidentiality and to demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness and integrity.
7.        Excellent interpersonal skills.
8.        Strong public communication skills (public speaking, social networking through the web, writing, etc).
9.        Flexibility to accommodate change in a changing world, a changing church, and changing opportunities for international missions service.
10.     Willingness to travel within North America and to participate in some evening and weekend events. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1.        A Bachelor’s degree required.
2.        At least one year of experience in cross-cultural ministry preferred.
3.        At least one year of recruitment and/or orientation-related work experience preferred.
